- The goal of the Akoma Tour : AUGUST 15TH - 31ST 2019
Is to bring our fellow drummers, students and friends to Ghana to experience first hand the beauty and struggle of this incredible West African nation. From August 15-31, Kweku have planned a full schedule of activities including traditional drum and dance workshop; musical presentations and cultural experience; travel and tourism; opportunities to work with community children as part of Drumming Up From Poverty Project, Whose mission is to improve the quality of life of street children and orphans in Ghana by mentoring them in the art of traditional drumming, dancing and drum making; and opportunities to first stay at DUFP homeland in the Central Region of Ghana a village called Senya Beraku.
WHAT: When you arrive in Ghana, here are some of the things you will do:
*Meet the Hands on Drums craftworkers and touring the Accra Centre for National Culture
*Meet Kweku's family
*Travel to historical and natural places, such as Cedi beads factory, Elmina Castle, Boti Falls, Kakum National Park. Traveling is optional for those who would rather stay at the beach and relax
*Time on the beach in Senya Beraku (where we are staying), collecting shells, meeting local people, swimming in the ocean
*Enjoying meals together - Ghanaian cuisine is unique and fabulous
*Drumming - as much or as little as you want - we have master drummers on site to teach workshops and/or private lessons, nearly every day
*Other lessons if you are interested - like xylophone, or kusika shakers, or possibly Ghanaian flute can be scheduled
*Experience village and city night life (also optional)
*Being a part of our community in Senya Beraku - the Drumming up From Poverty children will perform for us, and we will have opportunities to play with them on the land and beach

PROGRAM FEE
$2,500 for 2 weeks, $3000 for 3 weeks,
$3500 for 4 weeks
All bookings will require a deposit of $1000 with the balance due no later than two weeks prior to commencement of the tour. Program fee includes tuition, accommodation, 2 meals a day, transportation.

Participants will be part of local life and culture wherever they go; they will have opportunities to jam with talented musicians, feast on delicious fresh fruit, fish and spicy local fare; they will bask in the sun and surf of beautiful beaches; and they will share and connect with most beautiful and hospitable people they have ever had the privilege to meet
DAILY SCHEDULE
4 hours daily practice , Monday- Friday of intensive drumming and dance. All classes are taught by professional instructors. You will enjoy the constant attention of these teachers and find it easy to learn and retain the rhythms and the songs. There will be trips on the weekend.
